Long off days, fishing 30 years ago

Do you remember back in the 1970s when you could go out fishing for a few hours & catch the exact type of fish you would like to eat for dinner.

You had a choice Cod, Pollock, Haddock, Plaice even a nice Turbot if you knew the correct place.

These days are now just a dream. Last summer I was lucky if I caught a mackerel .

Can someone tell me what happened to all the fish?

First thoughts

Scallop dredging in action, the most inefficient way of collecting scallops. Destroys 10x more than the value of the scallops

With a new Scottish Marine act will the sea recover around my island?

The seabed over the past 2 decades has been dredged into a marine desert .

The real question the present government in Scotland need to ask themselves, is there the political will to confront the sections of the fishing industry responsible for the dreadful state of the sea's around the west of Scotland.

Or will they continue to appease unsustainable damaging fishing practices?
